North-East has the highest percentage of cars being driven around with paint damage.
Did you know that half of all car owners in the North-East needed small paint repairs in the past 12 months, yet only 12% of them have had the repairs done?
We commissioned a YouGov survey to explore the state of car paint across the UK, and the results were eye-opening. The survey revealed that many UK cars are in poor condition, largely due to cost and convenience. In the North-East, 38% of car owners admitted their vehicles needed small paint repairs.
Does car colour make a difference?
Actually, yes!
The survey found that white cars are by far the most popular in the region, with 19% of car owners driving white and 16% opting for blue. Surprisingly, only 35% of white car owners reported any paint damage.
Interestingly, blue and black car owners were the most likely to experience paintwork damage, with these colours showing a higher incidence of scuffs and imperfections.
Why arent we repairing our car paintwork?
Over half of survey respondents said they haven’t repaired small paintwork damage because it’s too expensive, while 25% cited the inconvenience of getting these imperfections fixed.
Our MD, Paul O’Reilly, wanted to understand why fewer people are repairing their car’s paintwork when they have scuffs, scrapes, or road rash. To gain insights, he turned to YouGov for help.
The survey revealed that 27% of car owners would be willing to make repairs themselves. This inspired the launch of Car Paint Colours and our industry-leading Smart Chip Pen. The pen allows both beginners and car enthusiasts to easily touch up minor chips or scratches at home, offering an affordable and simple solution.
It’s simple to find the perfect paint match for your car using our DVLA-assisted technology. Just enter your registration number, and either the aerosol colour or Smart Chip Pen will be delivered straight to your door. No need to spend a fortune or leave your car at a body shop!
