What’s the most popular car colour in the North-West? Blue, by far!
But what does the colour of our cars say about their state of repair?
We recently commissioned a YouGov survey to explore the condition of the UK’s cars, and the results revealed some concerning findings.
In the North-West, 47% of car owners reported needing small paint repairs in the past 12 months, yet only 12% of those actually went ahead with the repairs.
The main reasons for not repairing the damage? Cost and convenience. Over half of those surveyed cited cost as the primary reason, while 27% said it was simply too inconvenient to get the repairs done.
Does car colour affect the likelihood of scuffs and scrapes?
It’s no surprise that, with blue being the most popular car colour, blue cars are the most likely in the region to have damaged paintwork. Blue cars accounted for 48% of the vehicles with damaged paint on our roads.
Black cars followed closely behind, with 43% of owners reporting paint damage, while white cars appeared to be the safest, with only 35% of owners reporting scuffs or damage.
To understand why so few drivers are repairing their car’s paintwork, our MD Paul O’Reilly turned to YouGov. The data revealed a strong desire among drivers to carry out repairs themselves. While 51% would opt for a body repair shop, 33% said they’d either do the repairs themselves or let a car enthusiast handle it for them.
To meet this demand, we introduced the Smart Repair Kit and Smart Chip Pen, allowing owners to perfectly match their car’s paintwork. By simply entering the vehicle’s registration number, Car Paint Colours’ DVLA-assisted technology provides the exact match. This means that small repairs can be done at home, saving money and eliminating the need to be without your car.
